Walking through the centuries: from origins to 21st century event image
_A walk that explains how a riverside hamlet became a city_ From its medieval beginnings to the complex 21st century city, Leeds has grown and been reshaped as a result of many different forces of change. New buildings have always had to be fitted within the existing urban fabric. Redundant spaces and places have been reworked and more housing and commercial buildings have been added to the outer edges of the built-up area. Many fine features have been created but the process of reinvention has not always been straight forward, uncontentious and completely successful. This tour doesn't just celebrate success. You'll also have a chance to consider how coherent, inclusive, sustainable and admirable the city is. _Meet in front of main door (north side) of Leeds Minster. Note: the pin on the map on this website is a bit too far west but the Minster is clearly marked and it's a very prominent landmark. _ Find out more about your guide Rachael Unsworth [https://www.leedscitywalkingtours.co.uk/]
