Leeds City College is bolstering the digital hub of Leeds by relocating its digital technologies provision to the Printworks Campus in the heart of South Bank Leeds.
The £10m final phase of the Printworks Campus, on Hunslet Road is currently under construction and from September 2017, business, information technology and computer science courses will be based there. Students will benefit from the business style environment which incorporates a master lecture space with dedicated networking labs. The flexibility of classrooms will mean that students can benefit from independent learning zones, fully equipped with the latest digital technology.
Julie Best, Head of Computer Science at Leeds City College, said: “The new facilities at the Printworks Campus have been designed to meet industry standards and provide students with a simulated real life working environment. Our courses aim to equip the next generation of programmers, software developers and IT technicians with the skills they need for a prosperous future.”
Denise Meney, Head of Business and IT at Leeds City College, added: “The professional business environment our students will be working and studying in will act as an incubator to promote and develop the next generation of lawyers, financers, marketers and entrepreneurs. The Business IT courses on the other hand will support those wanting to develop their data analytical or design skills through the use of ever changing IT software programmes used within industry.”
Other developments at the new phase of the Printworks Campus will include a brand new commercial restaurant, professional hair and beauty salon and spa.
The final phase will officially open at a celebration event on Thursday 24 August, ready for the 2017/18 academic year.
